Antioch Missionary Baptist Church is the oldest African-American Church in Bulloch County, Georgia, being established during slavery, on September 10, 1863. The tour of the cemetery will be on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Participants will meet at the Luetta Moore Park (121 Martin Luther King Drive, Statesboro), at 8 AM and travel to Antioch MB Church (197 Antioch Church Road. Brooklet, GA 30461) for a 9 AM tour led by oral historian, Dr. Alvin D. Jackson. There are 561 known graves in Antioch Cemetery with 198 being unmarked. The community is invited to attend the tour and assist Dr. Jackson in identifying these unmarked graves of free people and former slaves.
